Brukenthal Palace in Avrig

The baroque palace is situated on a terrace 12 metres above the Olt Valley, at the highest point of Avrig.

The palace is the former summer residence of Baron Samuel von Brukenthal, built in the late 17th and early 19th centuries.

The palace also owned one of the most beautiful parks, with an area of over 20 hectares.

It was laid out on the model of French gardens, with artesian fountains, a splendid staircase and several side alleys, vases, benches, stone statues, and an orangery, idyllically situated in the middle of the park. The park has been preserved largely in accordance with its original structure.
