Located in the Parâng Mountains, Rânca is one of Romania’s favourite ski resorts and the oldest mountain resort in the country.
Access is via the Transalpina or DN67C Bengești-Șugag, but in winter, as the Transalpina is closed, you will only be able to climb from Novaci.
Here you can enjoy the Oncești ski slope, of medium difficulty, about 1 km long. Served by a chairlift and a night lift, the Rânca slope is particularly popular with beginners and those wanting to learn to ski.
Rânca has 6 ski slopes, of which only 4 are approved, respectively:
M1 – easy difficulty, 650 m long
M2 – medium, 500 m
M3 – medium, 710 m
M4 – medium, 350 m
L 1-3 – easy, 910 m
L 2-1 – easy, 606 m
Ski equipment costs 25 lei/day, while snowboard equipment (boots and board) costs 30 lei/day. Here you can also rent a sledge (10 lei/day), ATV (80-100 lei/hour) or snowmobile (150 lei/hour).
If you need a ski instructor, a lesson costs about 50 lei/person.
