Busteni – It is located on the Prahova Valley, at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains, which have a maximum altitude of 2,505 m.

Surrounded by the peaks of Caraiman and Costila, Busteni is a small resort ideal for walks in the Bucegi Mountains. The town itself pales in comparison to Sinaia and is as crowded as Predealul by the busy road that runs right through its centre. The main attraction, the Cezar Petrescu Memorial Museum, is a 20th century peasant-style building on the northern edge of town.

The starting point for many trails, most of them well signposted, is the top of the cable car line. A popular and easy trail leads to the Urlatoarea waterfall, while a more difficult one leads to the much-photographed geological formations called Sphinx and Babele.

Kalinderu Slope from Busteni

In one of the most popular tourist areas in Romania, i.e. Prahova Valley, there is a part of Busteni resort, named after a famous man.
The Kalinderu ski slope is located in Busteni, in the property of the Municipality, which probably makes it one of the best equipped slopes in Romania.
The name of the slope comes from Ioan Kalinderu (1840-1913), who was administrator of the Royal Crown Domains during the reign of King Carol I.

Ioan Kalinderu was an advisor to King Carol I of Romania on legal, economic, forestry and agricultural matters.
After the establishment of the Crown Estates (1884), he was appointed administrator of the Crown Estates, a position he held until the end of his life.
Ioan Kalinderu was a philanthropist: he donated to the Romanian Academy the colossal movable and immovable property received by will from Ioan and Elena Ottetelesanu (more than 900 ha of agricultural land and forests, buildings and important sums of money in banks). He financed the adequate endowment of the Romanian Academy’s auditorium, including the purchase of stained glass windows. The “Kalinderu” art museum in Bucharest is also his foundation.

The slope bearing his name has been homologated by the international ski federation, thus allowing the organization of competitions and the hosting of high performance skiers.
The Kalinderu slope is equipped with artificial snow cannons and special machines are used for snow grooming.

There are plans to install a giant slide in the future, parallel to the party, so that the influx of tourists will be high during the summer.
The length of the party is 1700 m, the width 60 m. The altitude at the start is 1400 m and the altitude at the finish is 1030 m with a medium degree of difficulty. It has artificial snow below -5 degrees Celsius and a ski lift. The slope has other facilities such as baby skiing, 200 parking places, music, bar, waiting room.

Prices in the rental centres are:

Skis – 20 lei/day
Piste – 10 lei/day
Snowboard – 20 lei/day
Sledge – 15 lei/day

Kalinderu Ski School was established in 2006, with the support of mountain rescuers who are at your disposal for any type of activity or any technical level.
Kalinderu offers a wide range of services: private lessons, courses, camps, competition organization, competition preparation, etc., for both children and adults.
